A new streaming platform backed by X Factor legend Simon Cowell is ‘revolutionising’ the way content creators make money online – with creators making additional cash through the platform’s tipping mechanism.

The highest number of tips she received from a single streaming session was £500 over the course of her a 45-minute concert. Anyone who tips her during live streams is then invited to join in a private Q&A session afterwards, which incentivises them to send tips.
And she has hugely benefited from the platform’s 24-hour performance payout.
She said: ‘You can cash out or leave the money in the account, it stops online streaming being about ‘busking’ for money.
‘It makes it a more legitimate revenue stream. It makes it more in line with touring, in as much as you tour, and then you get paid.
‘I do three shows a week ranging from £1.50 to £3. My ‘Friday Fun’ show is an opportunity for new people to come along and is free for all, but anyone tipping gets to attend the private Q&A after.

‘Friday’s show gets the most attendees and is the most financially successful. I also do pop-up shows as well as specially themed ones, and when I tour I often stream that live and that will often be priced higher.
‘Tips make it more financially beneficial. Tipping only works if it’s part of a culture or if you offer rewards for tipping such as the private Q&A.
‘It’s really exciting to be able to stream online because you can take control of your career and finances.
‘The top performers may earn more at a concert and get a better choice of venues, but streaming is levelling the playing field.
‘Lounges has definitely allowed me to tap into a fanbase I would not otherwise have had access to.
‘It allows you to being people into your music so they can become a deeper fan of your music.
‘You can have much more control over your audience and curate your fanbase so they are kind, friendly and respectful to each other. It’s like performing in an open exhibition at a museum.’
